Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan region is set to host Iranian drama ‘Without Anything’.

Cinemas in the cities of Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Duhok will see the screenings of Iranian drama ‘Without Anything’ as of July 7, 2022.

Mohsen Qaraee’s acclaimed film is a loose screen adaptation of German comedy ‘The Visit’ (Der Besuch der alten Dame) by famous Swiss playwright Friedrich Dürrenmatt.

Co-written by Qaraee and Mohammad Davoudi, the film is about a rich woman who arrives in her home village, which she has not visited for 20 years. Many locals have already moved to the city, and the rest are impoverished.

The locals think the newcomer will revitalize the community and restore the citizens' smiles. However, there is one circumstance that could pose a significant problem for the residents.

Parviz Parastouee, Hedieh Tehrani, Baran Kosari, Hadi Hejazifar, Pedram Sharifi, Zahir Yari, Laleh Marzban, Babak Karimi, Mahtab Nasirpour, and Farid Sajjadi-Hosseini are on the cast list of the flick.

‘Without Anything’ was nominated in 14 categories at the 39th Fajr Film Festival in Iran, where it won five awards, including the special jury award and the Crystal Simorgh for best screen adaptation.

The festival also honored the film with awards for best costume design, best music and best editing.

The flick was also screened at the 8th edition of the Iranian Film Festival Zurich taken place in Swiss city from May 26 to June 01, 2022.

The 14th Sofia Middle East and North Africa Region Film Festival in Bulgaria and the 45th edition of the Mostra-Sao Paulo International Film Festival in Brazil previously screened the film.
